On Thursday night, WCTV hosted an awards night for our membership. The Golden Apple Awards recognize volunteer producers, production assistants and other content creators in community. Video is coming soon. You can find a bunch of pictures on our Facebook page here.
The biggest award of the night was for Volunteer of the Year and this year’s recipient in Paul Hipple. Paul is a longtime WCTV member who helps in both the studio and the field. You may not know his face, because he’s always behind the camera. He records weekly church services for the United Methodist Church, records most of the summer concert series on the Town Common, helps with our sports coverage and lent a hand this past year for productions during the Fun on the Fourth and the Christmas Tree Lighting.
Paul is a familiar face to all of us at WCTV and we are so happy to give him this award. You can watch the awards night soon on WCTV.
Other award recipients for 2017:
Best Studio Show: “Let’s Be Candid About Elder Issues”, produced by Terri Marciello… Best Field Production: “All About the Flavors”, produced by Bob Hamel… Best Host and Best Producer: Eileen MacDougall for “Book Stew”… Excellence in Production Assistance: Jim Buckley… Excellence in Sports Programming: Chris Neville for “Wildcat Football”… Collaborator of the Year: The Senior Center, for our continued partnership in creating content… Best Intern Production: “National Night Out”, produced by Joey DeSario, Cam Quinlan and Nick Toth… Best Youth Video: “Men in Blue” from our summer program… Excellence in Podcasting: “Now This From the North Nurse” with Jane Ferrara and Heather Peachey… Best Non-Traditional Programming (tie): Jamie Boudreau for “Airgoz Aerial Photography” and Mark Holleran for “Wildlife of Wilmington”.
In addition to thanking our members, WCTV also named a Staff Member of the Year. That recognition goes to Tom Pazyra. Tom is someone who brings the right character and attitude to work every day. He is a great representative of WCTV in the community and is always looking for the next project he can help out with. Tom’s work over the past year included the Good Guy Award, the Middle School Science Fair and Veterans Day. He also built a WCTV 30th anniversary highlight reel, which is now available to view online and on our channels.
Great work everyone! Happy New Year!
