Have you seen WCTV’s latest program “The Board Room”? Host “Ronny D.” is going to walk viewers through board and card games that aren’t as well-known as old favorites like Monopoly and Clue. His first show: a tutorial on “Odin’s Ravens”.
You can watch the program at the bottom of this page and also click on Ronny’s interview with Lisa Kapala. The “Producer’s Spotlight” gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the production and what Ronny hopes the show turns into.
I’ve talked a lot in this space about community based programming: town issues, local personalities and local sports.
But “The Board Room” is another way to look at community TV: a conduit for people in town to showcase their interests. (Another example is “Book Stew”. Host Eileen MacDougall often highlights regional authors or local topics, but her passion is books and authors, and that clearly comes across during her interviews.)
Ronny has been in and out of WCTV over the past couple months developing his show idea and working with staff on how to make graphics, what camera angles work and how to do some editing. This month’s end product will hopefully be the first step in a long-running series. And while a lot of effort goes into Episode 1, it gets smoother over time.
We’ve got a couple other producers lined up, looking to do new programs here at WCTV. Are you one of the next ones to come through our door? We’re here to bounce ideas off of and talk about the potential for what you want to do.
And if you’re more of a “behind-the-scenes” type of person… well, these shows need camera people, directors and editors too! We’ll give you all the training you need and you just have to give whatever time you have to spare.
