If you're like my family, you might dedicate this weekend to unending marathons of "A Christmas Story" or "Elf". Christmas music has been on since Thanksgiving, but it might be turned up a couple notches this weekend. This year, Christmas Eve will also include the Patriots game, putting a key audience in a bind: football fans who are also last-minute shoppers.
Over on WCTV, we're wiping our "regular" programming to run some Christmas marathons of our own.
Starting Saturday, our Public Channel (Comcast 9 / Verizon 38) will show highlights from various Christmas events that happened around town over the past month: Town Common Tree Lighting, Santa Breakfast, Santa Parade and the Brass Band Concert to name a few... Check out the schedule here for a full listing. Because Christmas is a Sunday this year, our regular religious block is in tact that morning and early afternoon.
Over on WCTV's Education Channel (Comcast 99 / Verizon 39), we'll be highlighting all the school winter concerts from the Wilmington High School Auditorium. There are six of them, featuring kids from high school all the way down to the elementary schools. Get in the holiday spirit with songs performed by bands, string ensembles and choruses. The schedule is posted here (and it's also where you can livestream our channel).
A reminder that all of these programs are also available on demand though our website.
