Days of planning. Hours of setup. And our live production went up as scheduled at 6PM on Thursday. Now, we're busy catching our collective breath.
It was a bit windy, but the rain held off. Thanks to our staff and volunteers, as well as all of our guests who were willing to come on TV to talk about the organizations. It all came together for a great show that really captured the kick-off night of the Fun on the Fourth.
Mike Burns did a great job as our main host, while Lisa Kapala and Joey DeSario spent much of the evening walking around the festivities finding people to talk to.
Adam Dusenberry, Scott Kurland and Ron Buccheri were in our make-shift control room, making sure the pieces all got put together in the right order with the right sound.
Stephen Valenti, Kaileigh Bernardo and John Cimeno were our field videographers. Mark Ryan, Paul Hipple, Zack Weinstein and, of course, Don Leard, were helping around the main set.
And just because our live broadcast is over doesn't mean our Fun on the Fourth coverage has ended. You'll see WCTV cameras out all weekend recording the events. Look for more video in the coming days.
In the meantime, tune into our Public Channel (Comcast 9 / Verizon 37) through Tuesday for great Fun on the Fourth programming, from this Thursday's show to archive material dating back decades.
Here are the specific upcoming times for this year's Fun on the Fourth Kickoff show (Comcast 9 / Verizon 37):
- Friday: 9PM
- Saturday: 1PM & 9:30PM
- Sunday: 8AM & 7PM
- Monday: 8:30 AM & 6PM
- Tuesday 12PM & 8:30PM
(A quick note on audio issues: We heard there was a problem for some of you. We're working to figure out exactly what went wrong. Thanks for tuning in live. Sorry there was a technical issue. We hope you'll enjoy seeing the production, WITH AUDIO, on TV and online in the coming days. Sometimes, with live TV, even with plenty of preparation, you take a risk that not everything works right.)
