New Ways To Watch WCTV

We are excited to announce two new ways to watch WCTV programming online.  They impact recent programs and archived content

Video On Demand

Looking for the most recent WCTV videos?  Whether it be a studio program, a Wilmington event or a municipal meeting, the place to find it is now (this website!)  Look for the Watch Online button at the top of the page.  It'll take you to our new web on-demand player.

From that screen, the tabs on top let you choose from Recent Videos, Regular Programs, Live Streams of our three channels and Schedules for all three channels.  Once you click around for a minute, you should get the hang of it (Be sure to pick your channel when you click on the Live or Schedule tabs).  You'll notice that not only can you find the schedules on this page, but if you click on a specific program from the schedule, you can watch most of them right now.

There's also a search bar at the top, so you can find exactly what you're looking for.

While we've uploaded a lot of programs from the past few months, our old Vimeo page will remain active for programs over the past couple years.  Over time through, this new on-demand player will be your home for most WCTV content over the past 6-12 months.

WCTV YouTube

Meanwhile, we're also launching our YouTube Channel, with an emphasis on archive programs and big community events.

So far, we've uploaded a little more than 60 programs, most of them from the past 10 years, but also a few gems from the 90s.  Our focus here is on annual events and special occasions in town.  We like to think of them as "Wilmington's home movies".

We're sitting on thousands of VHS tapes going back to 1989.  Our goal in the coming months (and years) is to slowly digitize that archive.  Fourth of July Celebrations, Good Guy Awards, High School Graduations and Promenades... Those give you an idea for the types of videos we're prioritizing.

So please, check out the site and over the next few months, go back there periodically to see what's been recently uploaded.  Looking for a specific program or event?  We'd like to have members of the community be a part of this process.  So let us know and you can even come by and help with the project!
